A birthday card with a locket to open

The Locket birthday card

The Locket birthday card plays on their phone: an antique gold locket on old lace, and when they tap the clasp it swings open on a painted portrait of them, made from a photo you add. Write a few words, send it by text, and they just tap the link.

Something to write inside
  • Your birthstone, for you, on your day.
  • Rare, bright and very hard to replace. Happy birthday.
  • Here’s to a year that shines like the month you were born in.

Watch the card before you write a word. Your first greeting card is free.

Birthstone questions

What is my birthstone?
Find the month you were born in the chart above. January is the garnet, April the diamond, July the ruby and September the sapphire. Some months have two or three stones to choose from.
Which months have more than one birthstone?
June, August and December have three each. March, October and November have two. The other six months have one.
Where does the birthstone list come from?
The modern list was adopted in 1912 by the American National Association of Jewelers, now Jewelers of America, at a meeting in Kansas City. It was updated in 1952, and tanzanite was added for December in 2002.
What are the birthstone colors by month?
January dark red, February purple, March pale blue, April clear, May green, June white, July red, August light green, September deep blue, October rainbow and pink, November golden yellow, December blue.
Are birthstones the same as birth flowers?
No, but they work the same way: every month has a stone, and every month has a flower. Many people give both, a flower for the day and a stone to keep.

Every month has a flower too: birth flowers by month.
